If prices rise significantly in January, Republicans can console themselves for losing the midterms, since they can blame the Democratic Party for the price rises.
Economic indicators are being manipulated, and some of the worst effects of the OBBBA don’t happen until 2027. Between now and January there will be a painful and widely reported “market correction” that will lead to doomsday stockpiling. Once people realize that the “doomsday” didn’t actually happen, they’ll see store shelves refilled, with new, higher prices that won’t come down for quite a while. I’m topping up my supply of dried beans, canned protein, and favorite condiments - not for survival but to fill-in during sporadic shortages from people “doing crazy.”
If I can add one more thing to your list of things coming down the pike we should be worrying about:
On June 29th Trump signed an executive order declaring a national supply emergency for fertilizer. The order allows for tariff-free imports from Morocco for the next 9 months. This is alarming because there is currently a food crisis in France that is directly related to the high levels of cadmium in Moroccan phosphate. Granted, France has been using cadmium-heavy fertilizer for a lot longer than we [hopefully] will, but any harm that comes from this can go in the ever-expandable list of harms from this administration.

Fascinating new information. My mind immediately goes to once we start that import, probably won’t stop after 9 months and becomes a regular supplier leading to issues further down the road.
No, it was how this all feels to me. A comically long fuse with a big boom at the end. I had to look up the chapter you were talking about because my curiosity had to know lol. Never read this one but I do enjoy Clancy’s novels.
No kidding, that's not a bad introduction. James Rollins and his series with Sigma Force pulled me in a long time ago. Technology, a bit of history mixed with fantasy, and special forces was an intoxicating blend for me. Clancy holds a special place as well.
Yeah , i am using it as a source of inspiration for my own technotriller currently in the works. So far its been very insightful about the intenral conflicts of the politburo , the escalation ladder and each individual step of afformetioned ladder.
So far its been 250+ total , 220 pages on the first book , its meant to be a series that ill start talking about more once i manage to get more reach and i have some rough edges polished. Until then ill keep it ambiguous. Ill only say that besides the book there will eventually be bigger fish to fry 😉

You are correct and I’m doing the same. Just stuff we normally use but grabbing in bulk.

Thank you for this. I hadn’t seen it. ❤️❤️

Is the tittle a ref to the first chapter of red storm rising by any chance?

Odd enough red storm is my first Clancy technotriller.

Oh?! That's exciting stuff. Much luck in you bringing it to life.
Thank you man

Ever wonder what it would be like if the government just got out of the way of everyone and everything?
So many damn times lol
You can’t chant, “One of us!,” without the “Gooble Gobble” for it to work.
